MARTIN MEYLER
ACCREDITED PSYCHOTHERAPIST & SUPERVISOR
As an ongoing practice, the process of psychotherapy is a journey towards inner discovery and awareness leading to increased well-being, balance, insight and clarity.
There are many reasons which may lead one to initiate this sustained exploration of self.
Most clients initially seek support because of known areas of difficulty in their lives, such as marital or interpersonal issues; challenging psychological conditions such as anxiety or depression; difficulty in coping with stressful and/or traumatic experiences;
and a diverse range of sexuality and identity issues....
Drawing on more than 15 years of extensive experience,
I have been trained in a broad range of therapeutic approaches and theoretical perspectives designed to help explore and navigate the life-challenges
which have brought you to this website.
I welcome you to look through these pages as a snapshot of some possible areas of focus that
we may explore, together.
If I can answer any questions for you, or if you would like to schedule an initial appointment,
please do not hesitate to contact the mobile number at the foot of this page,
or send me a message through the contact page.
All sessions are by appointment only and are arranged in-person or online according to your preference and availability. Every conversation is held in the strictest confidence, and my work rigorously adheres to the ethical code of practice as outlined by the Irish Association of Integrative and Humanistic Psychotherapy [IAHIP].

ONLINE PSYCHOTHERAPY & IN-PERSON SESSIONS
I first started working online in 2012 when a client returned to the States for cancer treatment and needed extra support while in recovery. In those early days, the unreliability of the available technology presented many obstacles to working online. However, with the vast improvement of internet service provision over the past several years, I have greatly expanded my work online.
While working online is different to working in-person, it is in no way inferior. In fact, many clients are more relaxed, and thus find it easier to discuss potentially difficult issues, when meeting from the security of their own home or work environment.
Also, as someone firmly committed to sustainable and ecologically focused living, I believe that the days of clients driving significant distances every week for an hour-long therapy session must become a thing of our collective past if we are to have a viable future.
Although online work is as effective as in-office work, I encourage clients [where practical] to meet in-person a few times over the course of the year to reconnect in a different way. My consulting room is located just over an hour from either Galway or Limerick in the unique landscape of the Burren.
SUPERVISION &
PSYCHOTHERAPY TRAININGS
SUPERVISION: As an accredited supervisor since 2017, about a third of my current practice focuses on the supervision of both newly-qualified and experienced psychotherapists from several modalities.
THERAPISTS-IN-TRAINING: Over the past decade, I have worked with students from most major training courses within Ireland. I am fully qualified to work with training therapists pursuing IAHIP or IACP accreditation.
AREAS OF FOCUS
While the issues a client brings to therapy are specific to each individual, there are common themes or concerns which are shared by many. Although by no means an exhaustive list, here are a few areas which are central to my practice and may be of interest to you...
